Law Of Averages:
The concept of “More=More”
The Law Of Averages is the concept of more equals more. The more you do something the more results you get. It’s just another way of saying rejection is apart of the process of achieving your goals. Positive & Negative results. Newton’s ‘Laws of Motion” says every action has an equal and opposite reaction. So where there’s light there’s darkness, where there’s good there’s bad, where there’s up there’s down, and where there’s a yes there’s a no. Kind of like when you first started tying your shoes, you got it wrong a bunch of times before you got it right. It’s the same thing throughout life, rejection is just an element of getting what you want. Everything is balanced. And the payoff at the end is greater than the road that led you there. And rejection should not be taken personally because its all a numbers game.
It’s A #s Game
For example, let’s say you are selling candy and you talk to three hundred people in a day. About 275-280 people will tell you “No” and 20-25 people will say “Yes” to your offer. Now I understand 275 people sounds like a lot and it is, but each “No” will bring you closer to a “Yes”. Here’s another way how to look at it. Some people will, Some people wont, So what, Who’s next. Basically you are only going to get told “No” so many times before you get a “Yes”. You can also count every “No” that you get as five bucks in your pocket. I say this because in a sense when you do run into that person that says “Yes” and they will, that “Yes” is worth five times more than all the “Nos” you collected on your way to that “Yes”. Look at yourself as a high quality control manager and your job is to filter out the “No” and only let the “Yes” go down the conveyor belt. OK now looking at the ratio every 1:10 – 1:15 will be a “Yes” so you are going to be filtering out a lot of “No”. It’s all a numbers game. If you can view rejection as a numbers game where you know there is only so many times you will be told “No” before you find a “Yes”, then life will be easier on you. So ignore people telling you “No” and focus on the “Yes”. You cannot take rejection personal because before long you will end rejecting yourself by saying “No, this person or that person doesn’t what it.” and give up even asking that person. Sylvester Stallone was told “No” 1500 times before landing a small role in his first movie as a thug. And even more rejection before they let him star in Rocky. Look at him now.
5 Types of People
1) Mean/Rude: They yell, cuss , and fuss at you, but you can’t take it personally. They are a lot of reasons why they may have snapped, and 99.5% of the time it has nothing to do with you. Best thing to do is kill them with kindness and say “Sorry to bother you, hope you feel better.” And walk away. The next time that person sees you they’ll apologize for they’re behavior.
2) No: Don’t want what you have, even before they know what it is.
3) Shoppers: Wants to buy, just not what you have.
4) Lookers: Want what you have, but can’t afford to participate.
5) Buyers: Self Explanatory…..!!Ka-Ching!!
3 RULES You Must Go By
There are three thing that needed to find the “YES”, Positive Attitude, Student mentality, and Work ethic. Positive Attitude: Positive attitude is so imperative to life. I cannot recall anything positive coming out of thinking negative. EVER. Positive attitude is to success what flour is to cake. The main ingredient, and the recipe we use directly dictates the outcome of that cake or success. In direct marketing we are told that positive attitude happens when we make it happen. It comes from within. No one but you can cause you to have a positive attitude, no one and definitely not circumstances. As Earl Nightingale said, we become what we think about. Think about it.
A/1+T/20+T/20+I/9+T/20+U/21+D/4+E/5= 100% Student Mentality: to become a master, you have to master the basics. Education is a life long experience and leaders are always readers. Any successful person you run into are ferocious readers. Learn to do the things that make life easier, like how to use the 5-Steps to become a better communicator and shorten the ratio from 1:15 to 1:5 or better. Continue to learn all you can. Work Ethic: Nothing works unless you do. If you want things in your life to change, you have to change things in your life. Hard work plus talent equals extraordinary. Sylvester Stallone, Micheal Jordan, Jerry Rice, and Tiger Woods all have natural talent, but its the combination of work ethic that made them what some would call unbelievable. The truth is we are all capable of those same feats. Positive attitude and a strong work ethic are the ingredients used to achieve success. So to recap, in order for the law of averages to work you must understand rejection is apart of success. It develops the tough skin you will need when you get to the top. It’s a numbers game, not everybody will tell you no or if you ask a same person enough times eventually they will come around. Finally attitude, a student mentality, and work ethic is key to success. Thank you. Have Fun Make Money.
